Happy Birthday Cheeta!!

Today is Cheeta’s birthday! This much loved star of the old Tarzan films turned 74 today.

Back when I was a child about the only time you could watch cartoons or “kid shows” was on Saturday. I would while away the time with Sky King, The Lone Ranger, Shirley Temple Theater and Tarzan.

All of us kids knew how to do the Tarzan call. I thought it was totally cool that he could call the animals to help us. And Cheeta was always there to lend a hand, tell Tarzan that Jane or Boy was in danger and to lend a little comic relief. Cheeta was funny and smart and we loved him. Cheeta was cool.

So Happy Birthday Cheeta - you brought a lot of joy to many kids!
