I was busy but did catch a few words on the weather report yesterday - a tropical disturbance. It might not be a big deal to the rest of Texas, but here at my house it is. The first thing I thought was, need more batteries.

We got stuck in Rita grid lock for a better part of the day last year and I decided never to go through that again. There will be no more evacuations. It’s going to have to be a pretty big hurricane to pry me out of my home. Something like a cat 10 heading right to my house. Guaranteed in stone. Seriously.

We will ride out any catastrophe here. But you have to have supplies. Things like gas for the generator and the all important gas cans. When Rita was coming you couldn’t buy a gas can for love or money. We did manage to score a couple of 1 gallon cans - woohoo. This year I am ready with big cans.

I have my water cans too, plus a couple of new ice chests. Not to mention the Coleman stove. yeah me! The problem is finding a place to put everything. Maybe we need to build a separate storage building just to be prepared?! lol

But you know what? I have forgotten the all important batteries and toilet paper. I wonder if the run has already started on the TP?

It’s not people like me who cause TP shortages and empty shelves. Honest. It’s all those other people. I’m just one of the innocent ones who happened to notice the TP aisle at Walmart was completely bare. Then the panic sets in. Oh nooooo, we can’t live without toilet paper.

The mad hunt begins. Women all over Houston are buying TP in record numbers. But I have my ace in the hole. (insert evil grin) Something the other ladies nearby don’t know about. On this side of the bridge, we have 2 Dollar Stores. ha!

So, can you guess what my chore for today is? lol, I’m going for TP and batteries.
